as a latina, i JUST learned about the immigrant workers of the building (window cleaners, janitors, food runners, etc) that weren’t accounted for and recognized bc of their status. 🥺 so heartbreaking.

Look up Melissa Doi when the plane first hit she made it down to the 44th floor but was told to go back to work on the 83 😔 there’s a sad 911 call she made which was played at Zacarias Moussaoui trial he was going to be the 20th hijacker but was caught in August 01 and had info on his computer about the 911 attacks but the FBI stopped Minnesota cops from looking at his computer 🤦🏽♀️

Yup my friend walked out and grabbed a co-worker who had a baby at home. Her boss tried to stop her and she said we can talk about it tomorrow. her and that co worker were the only one that survived from their team.

The story of Rick Rescorla is amazing and I re-read the New Yorker article about him every year in honor of his sacrifice. My dad was on the 62nd floor of the south tower & worked for Morgan Stanley & Rick is probably one of the main reasons he (and almost the entire company at the WTC) survived that day

Listen: We had a bad storm that ruined our roof. Literally the roof started leaking than gushing water. We went to another part of the building. Next thing you know we started smelling gas. I got in my car and left. I realized halfway home I didn’t even let my boss know. Ppl were still in the building. Everyone was like you weren’t playing….yeah most of my siblings died very traumatic deaths and I am paranoid asf

It reminds me a lot of Sewol ferry incident. A lot of poor young students ended up dying because they followed the authority of the adults around them. Only the ones that decided to do their own evacuation survived. It’s so tragic

My aunt worked in the South Tower and THANK GOD her boss told everyone to evacuate. When they got downstairs and the boss told everyone to go home my aunt wanted to go back upstairs for her purse, her boss said "Fuck the purse! We need to leave!"

9/11 taught me to RUN at every single fire alarm. A fire alarm went off at 1 am in my apartment building and I flew down 13 flights of stairs and was the FIRST person out of the building. You will NEVER catch me sticking around like “probably just a test”. Never
