❌ STOP MAKING THESE LAT PULLDOWN MISTAKES! Mistake #1: Using a grip that’s too narrow A very narrow grip can reduce your ability to effectively load the lats. Use a grip slightly wider than shoulder width to put the lats in a strong position and maintain good pulling mechanics. Mistake #2: Driving your elbows backward Pulling your elbows behind you shifts more of the movement toward the upper back and rear delts. Instead, think about driving your elbows down toward your sides to better emphasize the lats. Mistake #3: Letting your shoulders roll forward Excessive shoulder rounding can make it harder to keep tension where you want it. Keep your chest lifted and maintain a controlled shoulder position throughout the pull. Mistake #4: Pulling the bar around your head Trying to pull the bar in a curved path around your head compromises your positioning. Instead, lean back slightly and bring the bar down toward your collar bone in a controlled path. Mistake #5: Stopping the bar too high Only lowering the bar to eye or chin level cuts the movement short. Pull the bar down toward your collarbone area while maintaining good form to achieve a greater range of motion and stronger lat contraction.
