Your 20s should be YOU time (in my humble opinion) I really don’t think early adulthood should just be about building the perfect career, finding the right person, buying a home, or trying to have your entire life figured out by 29. I’m 32 now and thought I’d have kids by 25 - oh, how that changed, lmao. I spent most of my 20s doing things that scared me. I quit my 9-5 with barely any money saved, moved abroad, learned new skills, travelled, lived in a van we built ourselves, took jobs I never thought I’d have, and constantly figured things out as we went. And I’m so happy that I did that, because (again, in MY opinion), your 20s should be about figuring out who you actually are when you give yourself permission to be curious. Was I terrified sometimes? YEAH!! (I still am) But isn’t that the damn point?? My advice for my future children (yes, I’m still thinking about those) would be to move abroad and see what parts of you come alive somewhere completely unfamiliar, take language lessons even if you’re terrible, take a solo trip and learn that you’re actually pretty good company. Start something you’re genuinely bad at and let yourself be a beginner again. When I look back at my 20s, I don’t regret the uncertainty, the bad decisions, the jobs that didn’t work out, or all the times I had absolutely no fkn idea what I was doing, because those years gave me a life I never could have planned on paper. Life is short and yet, if you’re lucky, life is long, Either way, the only certainty is that it will end, and you’re going to be your own company for the whole time. So you may as well get to know who you’re spending all those years with. #travel #advice
