@mr.columbiamo: The urban legend of the Hobo Hill House centers around a historic American Foursquare home in Jefferson City, Missouri. Built in 1910 by local pharmacy owners Adolph and Beulah Brandenberger, the property earned its nickname because transients allegedly used to sit on the hill to watch local baseball games for free. The modern urban legend took off after a couple, Aaron and Erin Clark, purchased and beautifully renovated the home in August 2017. They abandoned the house just seven months later due to a series of terrifying, unexplained experiences. According to the Clarks and subsequent paranormal investigators, the home is plagued by several eerie phenomena. Before moving in, the Clarks reportedly found pentagrams and "666" spray-painted on the doors, along with deadbolts on every single door. Rumors also persist that the basement once housed prisoners, fueled by the discovery of historic, cell-like iron cages downstairs. The family reported that lights, televisions, space heaters, and water faucets would turn on and off by themselves. They also frequently heard loud phantom banging and heavy footsteps echoing from the attic. Multiple sightings have been reported of a tall shadow figure wearing an old-fashioned black suit and a top hat wandering the halls. The breaking point for the family involved their young daughter, who began experiencing intense night terrors and severe sleepwalking. In one famous account, her father found her sobbing while staring out a window; when she turned around to face him, her expression instantly morphed into a wide, menacing "Cheshire Cat" grin. The family dog flatly refused to walk up or down the main staircase, often growling at unseen forces. Rather than selling the home to an unsuspecting family, the Clarks opted to turn it into a paranormal tourism destination. The home's terrifying reputation made it a media sensation, featuring heavily on television and internet programs Today, the Hobo Hill House operates as a popular vacation rental on platforms like Airbnb, allowing brave travelers and ghost hunters to spend the night and log their own supernatural encounters in the house guestbook. #jeffersoncitymo #missouri #fyp #trend #viral

Amazing. It could be a scam but supposedly the old penetiary is haunted. My dad was born and raised in Jefferson City. He never mentioned anything ghostly in the community.

I'm from Holts Summit, MO originally, but attended all of my junior high and high school years in Jeff. City. I've never heard of any haunted houses, ever except the former Missouri State Penitentiary. I grew up during the early 70s and 80s in Jeff.City and Holts Summit.
So is this house over by Simonsen Junior High School or the steep hill that connects with Dunklin St? It looks as if the house is on a dead end street.

I am not sure why it's so haunted now when it wasn't in the late 90s... and the spray painted 666, pentagrams and such were likely leftover from the jello pool party thrown around Halloween in the early 2000s. we were "pile 6 people in the master bath walk in shower" drunk but not "worship satan in the basement" drunk... js!

Back in 1997 my landlords for a place I rented in Jeff city lived there and they said that they never had hot water and they kept going to the basement and the hot water heater kept getting turned to vacation and they didn’t know how that happened they never told me at the time, though that it was spooky
