It is armed with a six-barrel M61A1 Gatling-type cannon chambered for 20×102 mm ammunition, capable of firing at up to approximately 4,500 rounds per minute, or about 75 rounds per second, with an ammunition capacity of approximately 1,550 rounds. It uses tungsten penetrator ammunition, including the Mk 244 Enhanced Lethality Cartridge (ELC), and has a commonly cited effective range of approximately 1.5 kilometers.
