I just saw it opening night in London and it didn’t have that part at all!! Didn’t even mention Ilya’s mum’s passing. They also turned it into a pantomime which is a very British theatre format and the guest star Diana Vickers did impressions of a bunch of UK celebrities so I guess there were a lot of changes. So I absolutely loved it but yeah, the British version is very different

I find the whole idea of this parody to be off-putting. if it came out over a year after the show, I might be more okay with it, but I think it feels cheap.
