@isubslide: This person from EnviroGuard Pest Control came to solicit while my MIL was watering her plants. He asked if she spoke English, and when she said no, he continued spewing nonsense at her instead of making any effort to communicate in Spanish. What really bothers me is that he appeared to be Hispanic himself. If you know someone doesn’t speak English, why not try to communicate in Spanish or find another way to explain why you’re there? My MIL deserves the same respect and consideration as anyone else. If you’re going door to door to solicit business, the least you can do is treat people with respect.
