I have a question: every pharmacist on tiktok says mucinex is basically useless, but as a trach patient, I've been directed to take guaifenesin daily to keep secretions thin and prevent mucus plugs. is it really ineffective and/or am I wasting money?

Absolutely!! We are trained to trust those with med degrees and titles. Too often, people trust and don’t look beyond that. If there is scientific proof something works? Great! I have no issue with a promotion of such! But it is a complete violation of trust to do otherwise, to promote an idea or product without anything to back it up. It isn’t ok to line your pockets with someone else’s hard earned money on an empty promise. Also.. can you please look into Horizant? I have severe RLS. Augmenting occ on Ropinirole. My PCP is an NP who isn’t well versed and I need some info and suggestions. I hear Ropinirole is a slow wean while starting Horizant. Help please!

I wonder if my child’s Dr is getting an insensitive for the meds he pushes. Like anti-psychotics used off label as a mood stabilizer and gabapentin for anxiety. He is well aware she has had bad reactions to antipsychotics and SSRI’s so I was advocating for lithium. He was not a fan of lithium supposedly due to the blood levels monitoring. She is feeling better than she ever has since she started taking lithium.
