Inference Principles :
Writing the code yourself by hand is called active learning. Believe it or not, even if you are copying code verbatim from a tutorial, textbook or somewhere else, the physical act of writing it manually (as opposed to copy paste) is a really effective way to learn. Of course, it’s slower, but “the way is the goal” as they say — meaning, there are no shortcuts to real knowledge, it will always take time and consistency. Even in a world with AI, we will need people who truly understand, so keep up the good work!

I also started making my pygame window a class as well. Separate folders, then import everything into one main file. This way whenever I update a file I only have to update that file and my game still works.

It’s a small project but I would recommend dividing up your project into folders by classes. So your Skeleton class will be its own file the tile class, etc. Something I learned in my Object Oriented class is SRP(Single Responsibility Principle). Other than that you’re doing great and typing by hand is better than just copying and pasting despite what people may say

I program for a living and this about my speed tbh. I think you just learn to “speak”the language more clearly with less words if you keep doing it this way. Good luck and have fun!

Been learning Python for the past three weeks for one of my computer science classes. Trying to give myself grace as an older college student (getting my second bachelors degree in Computer Science to make the transition to tech a bit easier) because on one hand, I wanna keep up but I also want to learn Python to solve problems as opposed to rote memorizing syntax. Keep on going friend! 🥰

You’re not even slow. If you were copying text maybe but you are thinking and processing the code in your head. Good job and I hope whatever you want to accomplish is accomplished.

Real-time coding is basically 10% writing and 90% scrolling back to remember what you named that variable. The small playable result makes the grind worth it though.
