Let n and m represent the diamonds and emeralds respectively. Gucci Morty gave 5n + 3m and la peace gave verity 2n + 5m, which both equate to $44, so this is a system of equations. That means 5n + 3m and 2n + 5m = 44. So it’d be 7n + 8m = 44. But it is also mentioned that Gucci Morty’s payment is $8 more THAN la peace’s paymet. We know that la peace’s payment is 2n + 5m, so we can just add 8 to tht. 5n + 3m = 2n + 5m + 8. Isolate the variable, so combine like terms, then it becomes 5n - 2n + 3m - 5m, which is 3n - 2m = 8. Now we have one more system of equation which is 7n + 8m = 44 along with 3n - 2m = 8. I’m gonna try to solve by adding.. hmm.. 7n + 3n + 8m + (-2m) = 44 + 8 is 10n + 6m = 52. But that doesn’t help our case, because we didn’t really get anyhring beneficial, so i’ll just try eliminating. If 7n + 8m = 44, that means 7n = 44 - 8m. This also means that n = (44 - 8m)/7. So, let’s try the distributive property with 3n. 3(44-8m)/7 - 2m = 8. (132 - 24m / 7 )- 2m = 8. Multiply the entire thing by 7 to get rid of the denominator 7, so 132 - 24m - 2m(7) = (7)8. This is just 132 - 24m - 14m = 56, so it becomes 132 - 38m = 56. -38m = 56 - 132, which is -76. -38m = -76, so m = 2. Now that we know the value of the emerald is 2, we can use that to substitute it into the original equation. If 7n + 8m = 44, and m = 2, then 7n + 16 = 44. This means that 7n = 44 - 16. Then 7n = 28, which means that n = 4. Therefore, the value of the diamond is 4, the emerald 2
