@ctorobotics: This robot gripper can lift 260× its own weight. 🐙🤖 Inspired by the way octopus arms wrap around objects, SpiRobs is a flexible, spiral-shaped soft robot developed by researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China. Its logarithmic-spiral structure allows it to adapt to objects of very different shapes and sizes. Researchers demonstrated grasping loads up to 260 times the robot’s own weight, while also handling delicate objects such as raw eggs. The interesting part is that the robot does not need a traditional rigid claw to create a strong grip. Its flexible structure wraps around the object and conforms to its shape. Soft robotics is taking a very different approach to gripping. Could soft grippers eventually replace traditional robotic hands in some industries? 👀 🎥 Media: University of Science and Technology of China ⚠️ This content is shared for informational purposes only.
