This is Potato. He was with my family for seven years. In 2022, my dad became very sick, and our family had to make the heartbreaking decision to take Potato to the same shelter we adopted him from back in 2015. When I came home from college that fall, he was gone, and a part inside me died. From what I know, he didn’t go to an average family, but to one that was experienced with cats; one that they know they’d be able to handle his big personality. The following year was an extremely difficult one for me. The hard part wasn’t saying goodbye. It was not knowing where he was and what happened to him. My parents even spent months trying to find out what happened after he was adopted, but because it was through a shelter, they couldn’t get any information. Four years have passed. Know that I am NOT making this because I want to take Potato away from the family who adopted him. If he’s happy and loved, that’s all I’ve ever wanted for him. I just want some answers. Is he okay? Is he still alive? If you adopted, if he looks familiar, or know someone who adopted a gray tabby named Potato from a shelter in Northern Virginia around 2022, I would be incredibly grateful if you reached out and dm’d me. Even if all I ever get is a photo and the knowledge that he’s doing well, it would mean more to me than I can put into words. If I knew Potato was alive and loved, I think a part of my heart that’s been carrying this uncertainty for years could finally rest Shelter: Animal Welfare League of Alexandria Thank you and God bless #viral #nova #lostcat #findpotato #virginia
