@himansshuu: ELWING || Although she and her husband Eärendil experienced similar grief, Elwing had it harder. Eärendil lost his home and everyone and everything he knew there, but his loving parents survived and were with him until he came of age. At the age of three, Elwing lost her home, her father, her mother, and her brothers, whom she would never see again even in the halls of Mandos, for they were mortal, except for the mother. This trauma has accompanied her throughout her life. When she sees that all is lost and her sons are captured, she jumps with the Nauglamir to die, but is saved by Ulmo. I consider Elwing to be one of Tolkien's best-written female characters, who has her own story separate from her husband's. and I also think it's unfair that she gets so much hate even though she hasn't even killed anyone, whereas male characters who do wrong do not receive this hatred . 1.
