Many say that there are no Popes in the Bible, but this statement needs clarification. The Bible does not use the modern title “Pope” for these men, nor does it provide a complete list of the successors of Peter. However, it does mention Peter, Linus, and Clement by name... three men whom Catholic tradition connects with the early leadership and succession of the Church in Rome. HERE ARE THREE EARLY CATHOLIC POPES OR PAPAL FIGURES WHO ARE MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗧. 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗥 - 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗘 Jesus gave Peter a unique role among the Apostles: “You are 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿, and on this rock I will build my church.”- Matthew 16:18 Jesus also gave Peter the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and the authority to bind and loose (Matthew 16:19). 𝟮. 𝗦𝗧. 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗦 - 𝗔𝗡 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗬 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗥 Linus is explicitly mentioned by Paul: “Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘀 and Claudia.” - 2 Timothy 4:21 According to early Christian tradition, Linus succeeded Peter as Bishop of Rome and is traditionally counted as the second Pope. 𝟯. 𝗦𝗧. 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗘 - 𝗔𝗡 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗬 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗘 Paul also mentions a man named Clement: “Together with 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and the rest of my fellow workers.” - Philippians 4:3 Early Christian tradition identifies this Clement with Clement of Rome, who later became Bishop of Rome and is traditionally counted among the early Popes. THE IMPORTANT POINT The Bible does not say, “Peter was Pope,” nor does it call Linus and Clement “Popes.” The title developed over time. But Scripture gives us the foundation: Christ entrusted Peter with a unique pastoral authority, and the early Church continued apostolic leadership through succession. THE BIBLE DOES NOT USE THE MODERN TITLE “POPE,” BUT IT DOES MENTION PETER, LINUS, AND CLEMENT; MEN CONNECTED BY CATHOLIC TRADITION WITH THE EARLY SUCCESSION OF THE BISHOPS OF ROME. The papacy is not a medieval invention. Its roots reach back to Christ, the Apostles, and the early Church. #Catholic #christiantiktok #bible #pope #Jesus

🎃 PUMPKIN SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES - Soft, chewy, perfectly spiced and rolled in cinnamon sugar. These are such a good fall cookie. Crisp around the edges with a soft pumpkin center. 🍂 COOKIE DOUGH ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted ½ cup (110g) light brown sugar, packed ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar ⅓ cup (80ml) pure pumpkin purée 2–3 drops fresh lemon juice ½ tsp vanilla extract 1⅓ cups (190g) all-purpose flour ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice ½ tsp baking soda ½ tsp baking powder ½ tsp salt CINNAMON SUGAR 3 tbsp (40g) granulated sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon METHOD Whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and pumpkin purée together until smooth and well combined. Mix in the vanilla and 2–3 drops of fresh lemon juice. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and gently fold with a spatula until just combined. Cover and refrigerate the dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl. Using a 1-oz cookie scoop, portion the dough and roll into balls about 1¼ inches in diameter. Roll each ball generously in the cinnamon sugar. Place about 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Do not flatten. Bake for 9–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are puffed, slightly cracked and still soft. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. They’ll naturally flatten as they cool and develop those beautiful crackly tops. Transfer to a cooling rack and enjoy! 🤎 recipe by @Christina Marsigliese 🫶 Save this one for your fall baking list! 🎃🍪 #PumpkinCookies #SnickerdoodleCookies #FallBaking #PumpkinRecipes #HomemadeCookies
