She told him if he wanted her to call him more she would 🤨 well thank you your highness for giving your son a few minutes of your time and actually acting like a mother... 🙄 Imo she was focused on her new relationship yes, but moslty she felt guilty whenever she talked or was with her son and she didn't like that feelings, so she decided to eliminate his uncomfortable presence from her life so she wouldn't feel bad anymore 🤷♀️

One of the reasons I haven't pursued a relationship since my divorce is that I'm too codependent and know that would take away from my relationships with my kids. I think it's working because my oldest calls me from college when she needs advice or to vent. That's proven my decision was correct.

“If you want me to _” is so laughable. As a parent, you should be doing all of those things on your own accord if you really care about and love your child. Implying you would only do it if it was requested just shows they were never a priority or of any importance to begin with.

even now knowing all of this she said if you want I do it. That's the issue woman! Your child should NEED to tell you to call them every once in a while. You should just go: "I got a minute, let me check in on them" and not have a relationship on a schedule where he needs to tell you every single time that he could use some time together now or a phone call or something

My mom raised me and my older sister all alone because she was divorced from both our fathers and they also lived in foreign countries. She still managed to pay attention to both of us, have her career, have plans for the weekends all her own and dating. She always prioritised us and it even made my sister feel guilty for “ruining her relationships” because of the drama always happening with her and my mom’s partners. She is way older than me so she always noticed more red flags about my mom’s partners. Now my mom is in a serious relationship again and my sister lives in a foreign country but she still manages to have days for the three of us girls without her partner. It’s just something that should be always there. OP’s mom forgot the most important thing, her son and this is honestly not something you can easily forget or ignore, so I completely understand OP’s reaction.

You were the AH for attending her wedding. That showed her acceptance by you. NTA for not inviting her. She didnt do anything to help you so she didnt deserve to be there. A good mother would have known her child needed something and placed her husband before her child.
