Amy, really? Please do not fuel what is the absolute stupidity of that thought process. Let me explain something, I actually know a little about knives (cousin is a knife expert) you can’t tell by LOOKING at a knife if the blade is dull, unless it’s rusted. A dull blade would more tear the skin, instead of a straight deep cut. A dull edge is more rounded and smoother, it tends to compress and stretch tissue first, requiring higher force to start the rupture, and the resulting wound is often more irregular or contused rather than a clean incision Lindsay Clancy’s cuts were “incised wounds” something a dull knife could not do. Also, as a nurse if she really wanted to die, she knew what to do. So, this is just the jurors making stupid excuses.

When you are in crisis you don’t examine the sharpness. You just grab one.

I think she decided it was to painful and thought jumping out the window would be instant death

yes it seems logical to me that she thought she wasn't getting anywhere with the knife so went out the window instead. i think it's likely she didn't want to face Patrick after what she did and was hoping to be gone in the quickest way possible.

A mom who cooks dinner regularly would know her knife is dull. A nurse would have chosen a sharp knife.

That was my first thought. Young married couple, probably doesn’t have the most expensive knives. Probably has dull knives.

I thought of that too.. obviously, she didn't pick a dull knife on purpose.. she just grabbed the big knife and it happened to be dull.. consistent with total mental break

I’ve been saying this!!!! The amount of force needed to cut her skin with a dull knife vs a sharp knife is so much greater. She may not have expected how hard it would be to cut and mentally she just couldn’t do it. Inflicting wounds on yourself is MUCH harder than cutting anything else.

If it's sharp enough to cut the skin, it's sharp enough to cut the veins and arterys. Doesn't mean she was or wasn't actually trying. But the blade being "perceived" as dull truly means nothing and should not have swayed the jury since it wasn't presented as evidence that it was dull

If you don't have a history of SH, you won't really think about how sharp an inplement needs to be. You will likely think any knife will cut, but they really don't. This knowledge only comes with first hand SH history. You also won't have any idea about the body's natural defense, causing the hesitation and the frequent requirment to push through the pain barrier to cause significant damage. Maybe Lindsay felt like she was failing due to both a blunt implement and hesitation. Had no experience with previous SH and also no clarity of thought in those moments, thus gave up and jumped instead.

If it was so meticulously planned over months wouldn’t it be sharpened?

Seems a bit silly to assume a knife that’s been sitting in evidence for 3 years reflects the sharpness of it at the time it was used

Also, for all the people who have said it was put down in a way a left handed person would lay it down: that’s because she used her right hand to cut her left wrist and her left hand to cut her right wrist. So of course it was put down by her left hand, because that’s the hand she used to cut her right wrist.

I’m still wondering why there were no prints on the knife let alone dull or sharp.

You can’t really tell if a knife is dull by looking at it. You can only tell by trying to use it.
