@teamwolforg: Three wolves. Three days. Colorado Parks and Wildlife killed two young male wolves on Monday: one from the Copper Creek Pack, one from the Three Creeks Pack. On Wednesday, the agency killed a young female from the One Ear Pack. That makes four wolves killed in five weeks, from a state wolf population last counted at just 32. For Copper Creek, the toll is even sharper: three wolves have now been killed by CPW, and at least four members of the pack have died overall. Of the five pups believed to have been born to the pack in 2024, only two have survived. This is not what wolf recovery was supposed to look like. Wolves should not be killed because Colorado has failed to fully invest in coexistence. Nonlethal coexistence cannot be an afterthought—when used correctly, nonlethal methods are up to 2.5X more effective at reducing conflict than killing wolves. Range riders, fladry, carcass removal, guardian animals, human presence, scare devices, and better grazing practices all matter. They need real funding, real staffing, real time, and real commitment before wolves pay with their lives. And now Trump is pushing to weaken federal wolf protections and make it easier to kill wolves at the very moment Colorado’s young packs need more protection, not less.
