I was reluctant to do a reel on supermarket Ice Cream because I really want to emphasise that I’m not saying we should never buy standard ice cream! Like I always say I’m a firm believer of the 80:20 rule and if the majority of your diet is made up of whole foods and minimally processed foods, then enjoying some ultra processed ice cream now and again is not a problem! I also think going out for ice cream (which is more than likely ultra processed too) with loved ones is one of life’s lovely pleasures and that’s really important in life too. That being said, I get asked MULTIPLE times per day to do a video on supermarket ice cream and whether or not there is one that doesn’t contain all the additives that you see in standard ice creams. As expensive as it is, Haagan Dazs is the only supermarket ice cream I’ve come across that contains the ingredients you would use at home if making ice cream from scratch - cream being the main ingredient! Most supermarket ice creams don’t contain much cream at all and some don’t contain any.. like the carte d’or one in this video! 🙈 And with no emulsifiers, stabilisers or other additives Haagan Dazs vanilla ice cream really is the real deal. I didn’t look at the other flavours so I’m only talking about the vanilla flavour here! If you’d like dairy free ice cream @_nobo_ is my absolute favourite with amazing ingredients! AND if you fancy trying a super easy homemade “nice cream” (ie not real ice cream but healthy and delicious!) this one has always been a hit with my boys: 1. When your bananas turn over ripe, slice them and freeze to build up a batch 2. Then when you want to make some ice cream, Blitz the frozen banana slices with a dash of milk in a food processor (you will need a powerful food processor) until creamy. 3. Add either a few drops of vanilla extract to make vanilla ice cream OR Add a handful of frozen raspberries to make berry ice cream OR ADD 1 tsp of raw 100% cacao powder to make chocolate ice cream 4. Blitz again until well combined! Place in a container and into the freezer for about 30 minutes before serving! Was this helpful? I’d love to know ❤️ #ultraprocessedfoods #foodlabels
