I’ve had this since I was a child and was only diagnosed at 16 yo after going for numerous operations and even tho laser helps it can still flare up 😔 I’m almost 24 and it still flares at the most random times 😭

I have this, only thing that got to the root of me not having / RARELY having flares is your FOOD! Cut out dairy, night shade foods and any form of peppers even seasonings 😭 whenever I consume any of that I tent to get a flare up

I am 51. When i was 19 i was told by a disgusted obgyn that I didn’t wash well enough. I spent decades scrubbing my skin raw and suffering thinking it was my fault. Thank you to those who share awareness .

I would get bumps in my armpits and they were painful turns out it was my deodorants I switched to aluminum free and never had bumps again

I went in to my dermatologist for this and she told me that I must not know how to wash myself cause I'm plus sized! She gave me a packet on proper hygiene and a body wash that cost $45 and did nothing! I'm glad you take people seriously, it's a painful thing to live with every day

Hi All... i was diagnosed with HS 20 years ago. I only have flare ups if I sweat profusely and then dont shower within 2-3 hours after or when I'm in my premenstrual phase. Here is what worked for me: I use Natrium Salycylic Acid wash (5 times a week) and Natrium Glycolic Acid wash (only 1 - 2 times per week). When I come out of the shower, I make sure I PAT my underarms dry. Then I use a deodorant spray called CRYSTAL Mineral Deoderant Spray. The bottle is white and pink. No more rubbing deoderant on, it just aggravates my underarms. The spray is awesome. Also, when I do get flareups (rarely since I do all of this in my routine), I use hypoclorous Acid spray and I add an EXTRA step when I shower with HIBICLENS antiseptic skin cleanser after using the Salycylic Acid wash. Shower with warm water and let the water open those pores and gently wash and lather with Salycylic Acid for 2 mins. Follow up with Hibiclens also for 2 mins. DO NOT use Hibiclens everyday and do not use it for more than 2-3 weeks at a time. Then take a break for a couple months before you start again. Hope this helps. I found Hibiclens and the CRYSTAL Mineral deoderant spray on Amazon. The Natrium body washes can be found at a drug store, like Shoppers Drug Mart (Canada). I use the Salycylic/Gycolic Acid wash on my inner thighs, too, but NEVER INSIDE the private parts. Also, another Pro Tip: I make sure my towels are always clean and I make sure the towels stay on long enough to always absorb any/all moisture. Moisture of HS is awful. I don't rub the towel. I just give it 5 mins to dry up everything and everywhere. Then spray my deodorant and cream my body. And thats it. Hope this helps.

I had them since I was a child. Cortizone cream on the skin as soon as you feel one coming up takes it right away, pain and all. I could have saved myself years of terrible scarring and pain if I found it when it started 35 years ago. I was also told as a child by a doctor that it was because I was dirty. Boil ease was the worst recommendation. Sad.
