Okay so to the first question she shafted and changed her physical form to have a reproductive system, just like how ameythest did to eat food. That's the reason why garnet and pearl couldn't since they did not have one. It would just stared in their body until they Poofed. How she gave birth idk. so the canon says she shape-shifted a reproductive system to get pregnant. this means Steven was planned. she intentionally had steven. its a lot like how amethyst gave herself a stomach to eat food. its worth mentioning that because Steven's gem is where a human bellybutton would be, either he never had an umbilical cord or he did at one point until his mother gave up her gem. I like to imagine the second option. since she was pregnant and half human steven needed to eat, this would mean she also gave herself a digestive system like amethyst. its worth mentioning that she likely wasn't able to poof ir reform while pregnant. also, her labor wasn't like humans. likely she delivered him and as she was born, the gem was transferred to him, giving up her physical body. they say in the show she gave up her physical form to have him. i imagine it like this:

obviously she shapeshifted human organs, she more than likely had a long talk with Greg, and she shapeshifted human reproductive organs, and yes while she is a conscious manifestation of light, she aswell has mass, they obviously can shape shift organs if amethyst can pee in the ocean (qoute in catch in release i think idk somewhere near that), and eat, and for birthing steven, she probably just factory reset the gem and went inside of it passing it down to steven, thank you for your time
