but lets be real she probably has better aim and coordination for long distance aim than anyone coming from D12 at that point. so it may have been an accident but it wouldn't surprise me if she's just naturally decent at knife throwing due to her bow experience

Katniss also seriously downplays her archery skills to the point of saying she’s average and not as good as her father but we know that she consistently hits small, far away, moving targets (squirrels) directly in the eye so she always downplays her skills. She is likely better at throwing knives than she thinks she is and we know she’s good at aiming so I think that it’s safe to assume that if she put in some effort she would be very gifted at knife throwing just as she is gifted at archery if she isn’t already.
