Doctors are well paid. The lowest paid one is high enough to provide a decent life. To people with average income, it’s really important. It’s about paying your rent, gas your car and buying groceries.

Thanks, Bobby. Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a difficult situation at work. When I decline a procedure because I don’t believe it is clinically indicated, the referring team sometimes goes to a more senior colleague, who performs it anyway. At times, it feels like the decision is being challenged simply to prove that my assessment was wrong, even when there is no clear indication for the procedure. It has created an environment where I feel I’m expected to say yes to everything; otherwise, I’m perceived as being difficult or unhelpful. I’m honestly exhausted by this situation and could really use some advice and support on how to handle it professionally.

I had almost the exact same thoughts when i tool my first(current) job. Number one was to be safe and competent. Who would not give me 💩 for asking for help? Who would be willing to be a second set of eyes and sometimes hands. It is a huge learning curve from trainee to independent surgeon. Its got to be a balance though. I was paid in the 25%tile when i started, that was pretty unacceptable by any standard and i do have some regrets
