gold plated is only good when you play outside and risk oxydation, I have some XLR that got rusted. I didn't know it was sold as more conductive

Gold-plated contacts are the standard these days for durable electronics. You don’t pay much extra for them. But those crystals? A total rip-off. They buy them cheap and sell them dear.

After many years They do sound better than standards cables of the same age because gold doesn’t oxidize like iron and copper. But, no, they don’t sound better on day 1 or even after a year

Shocking how many people genuinely believe the gold plating does anything. If it did, why aren't XLR cables gold plated and is gold plating mostly found in consumer connectors? Because professional sound engineers see through the scam.
