This is my dad’s biggest pet peeve when I was little. I would always tell him I am reading a whore book (the doll house murders) and he would yell HORROR!!! He was disproportionately annoyed by this idiosyncrasy.

It is even better when they do not realize what they have done. I was working with my 1st graders on the short u sound. We worked with the word SHUT. One student accidently put an L instead of an H. It wasn't funny that they wrote that particular word, but the fact they do not know what they wrote.

My son asked me what that was once. I told him it was a mean thing people tend to call women who have adult relationships with lots of people or women that work certain jobs... 😅 he was 3 and I am SO glad he didn't ask any follow up questions!
