@dewiredpath: For everyone asking for the FULL story about the Burning Man laundry… here it is 😭👇 This happened on Labor Day around 7–8 PM, outside our normal staffed hours. A group came in with a large truck, did their laundry, and later called us because one of the washers was stuck. When we came in the next morning, there was fine dust and dirt EVERYWHERE. At first, we thought it was construction laundry. Then the customers came back and told us they had just returned from Burning Man. 😭 We didn’t know much about playa dust at the time, and the washers seemed fine, so we let them finish their laundry. Then we discovered the dryers. 😭 The playa dust had CAKED onto the inside of some of the dryer drums, and one extremely thick rug still had a huge amount of dust trapped inside it. They also left belongings sitting in about SIX dryers while they were gone, so we eventually bagged everything up so we could inspect and clean the machines. We contacted them about the cleaning and inspection, and they told us to send them the invoice. 🙏 Thankfully, a technician inspected the machines and confirmed the dryers are safe to operate. However, a couple still have dirt inside the outer drum, so we’re keeping those OUT OF SERVICE until we can get them professionally deep-cleaned. We don’t want to risk another customer’s clean laundry getting dusty. And YES 😂 we read your comments! The vinegar and Calgon suggestions actually helped us clean the inner drums. Thank you!! ❤️ We definitely learned from this. We’re creating a policy for extremely dusty items and large rugs, and next year after Burning Man, we plan to be fully staffed for the week.
