@o_rija: I honestly don’t even know whether to laugh or be angry at this point. I paid ₦9.1m in rent for this apartment, yet after I finished the interior and furnishing, the house started falling apart. It began with the roof leaking, which led to me sleeping and waking up in a house full of mold for over a month. Because I refused to live in a deteriorating environment, I had to personally spend over ₦3.5m fixing and constructing things that should have been handled by the landlord due to poor engineering design. This included repairs to the roof, the POP, and various other structural damages. I repeatedly reported these issues to the caretaker, @Techniche the plug 🔌 , and the landlord through texts, calls, and reminders, but nothing was ever done. Eventually, I had to use my own money because I am the one living there, and I couldn't continue living in a house that was literally falling apart around me. What makes it worse is the nonchalant attitude of both the landlord and the caretaker. Whenever I report an issue, they tend not to respond until things deteriorate even further. Most of the time, they simply shift the blame to the house developer and expect me to wait indefinitely. So, basically, I paid the rent, I paid to maintain the property, and now I am expected to just absorb over ₦3.5m in expenses as if it’s nothing? I am sharing this because I want others to learn from my experience so they don't fall victim to bad real estate agents, developers, and landlords.
