The magnitude. A man , 25yrs later, choked up over sayn a cuss word. This is the 2nd interview ive seen men remembering the basic humanity of food bringing them to tears . The other was over water and PBJ sandwiches. Unimaginable. For them, I will never forget. Never.

My dad was a retired firefighter and he sobbed himself to sleep for at least a week aftwerwards, being unable to help. As an adult, I realize the heaviness that comes with their brotherhood.

that was my first thought was how many thousand of people were dead or die ..it was close to 50,000 people in both towers.. I was sick

“I’m on medical leave I don’t have anyone to answer to.” Usually an excuse NOT to work and he used it to stay and keep helping. 😢 The prisoners bringing food really got to me. Damn.

I was working in tile manufacturing running a kiln and I was listening to the Howard Stern show. at first I thought it was bit or some horrible joke. when I realized it was happening I went into my bosses office and told him. He was a local volunteer fire chief in Pennsylvania and he had a tv in his office. when he turned it on a bunch of us watched in silence. I will never forget that day.
