I feel like that’s why society has always pressured women to have children younger, because when you’re younger, you lack the resources and maturity to realize motherhood and the fairytale they sold you on Disney Channel is a self-abandonment ritual. Once women become more educated and climb the ladder socially and economically, they’re more intentional about marriage and family. I’m 25, with 3 degrees, working to become an attorney. Marriage is just not a priority to me. I don’t see the benefit for a woman, especially if I make more on paper. It’s only lucrative if the man generates more revenue. Patriarchy has always minimized women to being at home cooking and cleaning… But as a young woman elevating my life every day, I would never sacrifice my trajectory for a ring because a man wouldn’t do that for a woman. As women, you have to put yourself first because a man will, every time.
