@sydney_wellnessjourney: Replying to @Lois E 💜 • UGC Creator 🧟♀️ “Zombie cells” are real… but not quite as scary as they sound. They’re **senescent cells**: damaged or stressed cells that have stopped dividing but haven’t been cleared away. As we age, more of these cells can accumulate in the skin and release inflammatory signals that may affect nearby healthy cells and contribute to changes in collagen, elasticity, wound healing and overall skin aging. That’s why you’re suddenly seeing skincare brands talking about **cellular senescence, senolytics and “zombie cells.”** But here’s the important part: understanding the biology is one thing. Proving that a topical skincare product can meaningfully target senescent cells in human skin is another. And THAT is where we’re going next. 🔬👀 #M#MatureSkinS#SkinOver40S#SkinLongevityS#SkincareScienceSkincareWithSydney
Cells turn senescent when they face severe internal or external stress (usually from over use of skincare often with too high a ph or overuse) There is absolutely no preventing senescence. Broken mitochondria is a normal process. Not all senescent cells are bad. I think it’s important. That brands shared that as well. I hate the term zombie cells. I’ve studied the science for a very long.

The peach and lily is just fantastic and none of the others are packed with 3% growth factors. I’m just in love with that cream

I’m happy to have a conversation with you about it. I just think it’s unfortunate. That brands are using senescence and the science that is really very young from the early 2000s. Because there really isn’t enough science behind any of these brands that are making these claims
