@piniunoi: Going back to church is complicated for me. For a long time, I stopped taking Mum. Not because she lost her faith, but because I wanted to protect her. Church has held both beautiful memories and some difficult ones for me, and sometimes protecting my peace meant creating distance. But a wise friend reminded me of something I needed to hear: Take Mum to church. Not for the people. For her! And that stayed with me. Because this isn’t about my relationship with church. It’s about Mum’s. Her faith, her memories, the songs she knows, the familiarity of being somewhere that has been part of her life for decades. So today we went back 💜 And somehow I found myself helping Sunday School facilitating the songs ( Thanks @samalauluauina 😂🫶🏾) Maybe healing doesn’t always mean returning to something exactly as it was. Sometimes it means returning with different boundaries, a different purpose and remembering who you’re doing it for. Today, I went for Mum 💜 And maybe in some small way, a little bit for me too x
