Instead of relying on brute strength, the injector gradually works its way free from the cylinder head. The puller uses compressed air to drive an internal piston that delivers hundreds of rapid impacts every minute. These high-frequency vibrations weaken the bond created by carbon deposits and corrosion, allowing the injector to lift out with far less effort than a traditional slide hammer. Stuck injectors are a common challenge on high-mileage diesel engines, where years of heat and combustion byproducts can lock them in place.
