“you’re actually in love with her” no because i’ve been in love with a girl so bad that i sobbed so hard i started dry heaving and my love for my best friend is completely distinct from that. the absolute obsession with romantic love in society makes me so irked, because why is it seen as inherently romantic to see her soul for all it is and love it in its rawness? she is genuinely the sun that pours over the fields of my heart, she is so witty and caring, she replenishes me with laughter on the days i feel like a shell of myself. i want to see her succeed, i want to see her fall in love, and i am constantly in awe of the life she has built for herself, and simultaneously overcome with gratitude that i get to be a part of it. that love is so pure to me because there is no need for lust, there is no need for societal conventions. i would give anything to see her filled with the joy she brings me in every waking moment, to be able to repay that in any way, and i genuinely shed tears that my entire life has led to the moment we met and every conversation that brought us closer together. she is my whole sky, and to reduce that to the cheapness of a hollow, clumsy young love is an insult to me. she knows me better than i know myself at times. there is no part of our friendship that has ever, EVER felt unfamiliar or nervewracking to me. she is the purest of joys.
