Or you can just saw off 1.5” from the back of the top stringer and screw them all to a 2x8 and screw the 2x8 to the deck or floor. Code approved and honestly, it’s even stronger and better. But it does require assembling the staircase before installing.

Plywood hanger board with some blocking. last 50+ years. Don't need hangers for stairs.

what about slopeable or sloped joist hangers? Like this. The angle is also adjustable.

Should always use flat screws on wood. Nails are proof the carpenter doesn’t care about quality at all.

I learned the hanger joist thing on this old house so it has to be pretty good system

I use a neumatic palm hammer for nails in tight spaces

I have two questions how many times did it take you to do the hammer and splitting the wood and could you just hang the metal part thing upside down?

I just take 3/4 off the back of the stringer and nail it 3/4 osb and install

Just put a 6 “ grk from behind into the stringer. Snugs em nice and tight
