@realgeopolitiks: 🇵🇰 PAKISTAN’S TALIBAN PROBLEM GROWS WORSE BY THE DAY Pakistan’s fight with the TTP has deteriorated sharply since the Taliban returned to Kabul in 2021. For years, Islamabad backed and sheltered parts of the Afghan Taliban as a hedge against Indian influence and a source of strategic depth. The expectation was that a friendly government in Kabul would make Pakistan’s western flank safer. Instead, Islamabad now accuses the Taliban of allowing the TTP sanctuary across the border, while Kabul denies the charge. The numbers show how badly the problem has grown. ACLED data cited by Reuters shows militant attacks in Pakistan rising from 658 in 2022 to 2,425 in 2025, while TTP attacks jumped from 118 to 838 over the same period. And the TTP is only one front. In Balochistan, separatist groups such as the BLA have become more capable and coordinated, temporarily overrunning towns and targeting security forces, infrastructure and major investment projects. Pakistan is increasingly dealing with separate insurgencies on opposite sides of the country at the same time. The irony is that Pakistan spent decades preserving influence in Afghanistan to protect itself from strategic encirclement. The Taliban survived, won, and proved far less controllable than Islamabad expected.
