@whitleymillsmartin: Parental alienation isn’t always obvious, and it doesn’t always involve a parent directly badmouthing the other. Sometimes it’s the little things that repeatedly communicate, “You belong here, not there.” Children should never feel guilty for loving, enjoying, or feeling at home in both households. They shouldn’t feel like they’re betraying one parent by having a good time with the other. And this isn’t about blaming moms or dads. It’s about being honest enough to recognize unhealthy behavior no matter which parent is doing it. Children deserve the freedom to love both of their parents without carrying the emotional weight of either parent’s feelings. #BlendedFamily #coparenting #highconflictcoparenting
i don't do any of the first things. but unfortunately there is some responsibility for the other parent to make their house feel like home too. Like having needed supplies for the children and not treating them like they are an inconvenience. otherwise the children will come to their own conclusion with or without parental input.

Question is… do the kids ever notice who is causing the turmoil? When does the manipulation stop working? 😭

We deal with all these things and if you try and bring it up to her as interfering with dads time she'll come back with well he doesn't like it at your house and he's just scared to tell you. Yesterday while at our home she calls and tells him when he needs to start getting ready for practice. Them calls to say when he needs to leave for practice but why though we have never missed getting him to a practice. Then we get home from practice and sit down to eat and she calls again. He eats his food in 2 secs and runs to call her back. Like lady just let him be with his dad, how does she not know it is interfering with him bonding with his. Oh and to add she comes to the practice and sits a close as possible to him and talks to him before and after practice. There is part of me that’s is like well it’s her kid but then the other part of me is like a good mom would want their child to have a relationship with dad and not only her and she doesn’t really allow for that.

Bonus daughter stopped spending the night at our house when she started pre-K bc "it'll be better for her if she has a consistent routine." She stopped traveling w us when she turned 10 bc "she just gets homesick so quickly." & around 11 she stopped spending time w her dad consistently, unless that her mom was also invited, bc "we have a birthday party she has to go to."
When she started pre-K, her dad & I had just moved into a house big enough that she & her new baby sister could each have their own rooms. When she was 9, we took a trip not too far from home but the wifi didn't work for 30 minutes; bonus daughter would have been allowed to call her mom if she'd wanted to (she wasn't worried) but when it started working, she facetimed her mom who instantly started crying on camera about missing her. When bonus daughter was 11, her mom managed to stir up some drama between me & SO; when we resolved our issue, he proceeded to set a boundary w her about interfering in our relationship, & she has since managed to keep bonus daughter's schedule nearly 100% full so that the only time she can spend w her dad is if her mom is present as well.

Or calling you and accusing you of things like cleaning out their bank account of my vulnerable adult son! The thing is.. I don’t have access to anything!! Or tell him you’re an alcoholic/ drug addicted person which I’m not, it’s actually the reverse!! I’ve put up with this 💩 for 30yrs

Mind you my bonus babies are 3 and 5 now and were freshly almost 1 and 2 when my husband and I got together. We have made it very clear that no electronics of any sort will be brought into our home for these reasons. Sending a text to dad to check on them is one thing but people take that stuff out of hand!!

Parent doesn’t allow child to feel safe enough to speak to other parent at events. And then when dad tries talking to kid mom just stands there watching child ignore dad watching her and probably enjoying it.

Yup, calls and texts everyday even hours after drop off. It’s frustrating. Let’s us enjoy our time like I let you enjoy your time. Also tells the kids to come to things during my parenting time without asking me first and when I tell the kids no, I look like the bad guy…

I do the counting down thing with my son but only bc he's autistic and he gets anxious when he has to be at his father's for longer than the normal weekend. my son likes to know bc it calms him down and reassures him eventually he'll be back to what he knows. he doesn't mind his father's but he doesn't consider it home. he calls our house home and his father's "dad's house". i think its just from being so literal lol

The common thread in so many of these stories is that the child’s relationship with the other parent gradually becomes something they have to manage, feel guilty about, or seek permission to enjoy. That’s the part people need to pay attention to. Parental alienation isn’t always an outright “your dad is bad” statement. Sometimes it’s the repeated interference, guilt, emotional pressure, or subtle messaging that makes a child feel like loving both parents is a betrayal.

When my ex calls it’s more to tell him how many sleeps until he sees him and that he can’t wait bc he got him something so awesome he’s going to be so excited. They also involve him in adult conflict and recently have said terrible things about me (which is them projecting). My son acts so different after coming back.

We had 3 weeks scheduled summer time. She called 4 to 5 times a day. It got to where we stopped answering the phone. Then the cops showed up.
