While looking through my collection of seasonal dessert ideas and thinking of my awesome niece Haylie, I decided to bake a batch of rich, festive chocolate tarts decorated for Halloween. The decadent aroma of melted chocolate filling the kitchen brought back the most delightful memories of family gatherings. These individual tarts feature a crisp, buttery chocolate pastry crust filled with silky, glossy dark chocolate ganache, topped with an intricate piped white chocolate spiderweb design. They deliver an intensely rich, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate flavor experience in every single bite. Here are the basics if you want to try them out: Recipe Basics Yield: 6 servings Measurements: USA standard (rounded up) Ingredient List: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup ice water 2 cups dark chocolate chips 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 cup white chocolate chips Detailed Instructions: 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and cocoa powder, then cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. 2. Stir in the powdered sugar and ice water until a smooth tart dough forms, then press evenly into 6 individual tartlet pans. 3. Bake the tart crusts in a preheated oven at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes until set, then remove and let cool completely. 4. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until warm, pour it over the dark chocolate chips, and let sit for 3 minutes before whisking into a smooth, glossy ganache. 5. Pour the rich dark chocolate ganache evenly into each cooled tart shell. 6. Melt the white chocolate chips, transfer to a small piping bag, and pipe concentric circles onto the ganache, then drag a toothpick from the center outward to create a spiderweb pattern. 7. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour until the ganache is fully set before serving. Chef’s Notes & Nutrition For an extra hint of festive flavor, you can add a tiny splash of peppermint extract or orange zest to the dark chocolate ganache mixture. You can easily substitute milk chocolate chips for the dark chocolate if you prefer a sweeter, milder filling.
