@shualovy: Woozi used to be such a little crybaby back then 🥺 In first grade, Woozi took English classes at a cram school run by a pastor. The director loved music and often played Western pop in class, which sparked Woozi early interest in music. He even joined the church choir! Later in elementary school, the director's wife (who was good at clarinet) started instrument lessons. Woozi naturally followed suit and formally learned clarinet from her. It was totally a choice driven by the musical vibe around him... He played for about 4 years and was actually really good! But wind instruments are pretty strict about body type (stronger people control breath better). Woozi has always been quite small, so even though he practiced just as hard as everyone else, his natural physique made it harder to stand out. So, he gave up classical music and chose practical music, going to a practical music academy. There were recruitment posters from entertainment companies posted inside. The PLEDIS poster was the biggest and most colorful, so he thought, "I wanna try that audition!" His mom wasn't optimistic at first, saying, "If you can become a singer, then everyone in Korea can." She also didn't want him to go because she felt bad about the travel costs. But his dad supported him and brought him to Seoul for the trip.
