So yes, you can place these really on anything: ceramics, metal, wood, plastic, on a candle…the possibilities are endless here. Check my LTK 🔗 for supplies. ________________________ DIYer Notes >>>> Is this food safe? They are not meant for direct food contact. It’s best used for exterior surfaces ONLY. In my dabbling, I tested 2 brands decal transfers—there’s one you can use with varnish to last longer or one without! I really like the no-varnish option for ceramics like mugs since I’m going to be handling it often. It won’t last as long, but both types will not last forever like any other sublimation mug/tumbler. That’s the fun of it! In my last video I show how to remove decals so you can really have fun with it, mess it up, or redo it whenever you want your mug to appear differently through the seasons if you really wanted to. Remember to leave ample space from the mug/tumbler edges to where your lips will meet. For oven use, I placed mine in 300° F for 20 minutes and it did well, if you’re not sure if your mug is heat safe, try it at 150°-200°F for the same time. All the decal types can be cured by air drying them. If you’re wondering if it’s dishwasher safe, instructions stated not to let it sit in water. I haven’t tested it myself, but if it can withstand the oven and rinsing it should be okay, but it could probably wear faster overtime. The overall appearance is not too noticeable from afar, from closeup you can see the border edges slightly. BUT trimming them with an exacto knife, making more precise cuts makes it look more professional. For doing it at home, it’s a great option. I used clear transfer paper on both mugs, but there's also a white transfer paper option in case you need it since printers don't print white.
