YOU DON'T JUST WALK ONTO AN OFFSHORE RIG — YOU HAVE TO TRAIN FOR THE EMERGENCIES FIRST. 🚨🌊 Before you ever fly offshore, you may need to complete BOSIET or equivalent offshore safety training, depending on the region, employer, and role. That can include helicopter underwater escape training, sea survival, firefighting, first aid, and emergency procedures. The training can be intense because the whole point is to prepare you for situations you hope you'll never face offshore. And here's the important part: requirements and who pays for them vary by employer and contract. Some companies cover required training for successful hires, while others may expect candidates to obtain certain certifications beforehand. Once you're onboard, the lifestyle can include accommodation, meals, recreation facilities, and rotational time off — but those benefits also vary from rig to rig.
