A TikTok creator, her father and her ex-boyfriend pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles on Monday (September 14) in an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting a singer who is the father of her young child. Gabriela “Gabbie” Gonzalez, 25, has been out of jail on $2 million bond since her arrest in May. The alleged victim is Jack Avery, a former member of the band Why Don't We. Gonzalez and her father, Francisco Gonzalez, 60, are charged alongside Kai Faron Cordrey, 27, with one count each of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation of murder. They've waived their right to a speedy preliminary hearing. Prosecutors say she and Cordrey tried to hire a hitman on the Internet to kill Avery after her father sent Cordrey $10,000 in April 2021. He sent another $4,000 at Cordrey's request two months later after the hitman asked for more money, prosecutors say.

He sent another $4,000 at Cordrey's request two months later after the hitman asked for more money, prosecutors say. "In September 2021, an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a hitman spoke with Cordrey about the murder-for-hire plot. Cordrey is accused of telling the undercover officer that Avery was the target and discussed payment and proof of death," according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office press release. "In a subsequent conversation, Cordrey allegedly told the purported hitman that Gabriela Gonzalez wanted the murder to happen and Francisco Gonzalez could pay for the expense." The elder Gonzalez has been on house arrest, which Judge Louis T. Parise Jr. adjusted at his lawyer's request on Monday to allow him to attend a Sunday church service where he's living in Daytona Beach, Florida. Prosecutor Alexander Bott objected and said he's "curious to know what time the service ends, so that we can monitor that he returns straight to his house." "I would note he's on electronic monitoring, so everybody will be very aware where the service stands, and when he returns to his home. But I can inquire if the court would like," his lawyer said. Bott is a deputy Los Angeles County district attorney whose other cases include the criminal case against a woman accused of firing shots at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's home. He also prosecuted Tory Lanez for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the December 2022 trial. #law #crime #court
