India and China were on the same level economically back in the 1970s. Both of them had serious plans to transform their economies by the new millennium. However, India failed but China pulled off an unprecedented economic miracle that uplifted 800 million Chinese people out of poverty. Today, China's economy is five times bigger than that of India. That's what serious planing and effective implementation can do in just a few decades.
