80's and 90's concept of princess are damsel in distress but 2000 concept are more on strong independent women. it speaks about women can have dreams and ability to reach them not just being a typical girl who only waits for his prince/love for the rest of her life. after all there is more to life than love.

I think it would be fun if someone like Merida found someone who matched her personality and drew that side out of her, sorta like how Flynn drew out Rapunzel’s brave side and they grew together. Not that they need it, but that’s why I really liked Tangled. I think it’d be cute to watch characters like that bring out the best in one another without it being reduced to something cheesy or “girl is stupid or paranoid, guy must save/constantly reassure” like they did with Anna and Christoff
