DETAILS ⬇️ (Save for later) ✨️ Please read info below so you're prepared for this hike, and I recommend checking AllTrails for recent trail conditions and detailed descriptions of the challenge level! Located in Litchfield County, Meeker Trail to Waramaug's Rock is our fave Connecticut hike because you get such great variety in the landscape, plus rewarding views at the top. This is one of several Steep Rock Association preserves, and they do a fantastic job caring for the land and trails. While we do this hike every fall, I went out for a solo hike in May and it was so beautiful. TRAIL INFO: 🥾 Meeker Trail: This is the trail I took, which is the yellow circle blazed trail. (On the way down, you can take the white trail partway down for a slightly easier descent.) There is a map at the beginning that you can take a photo of. 🥾 Approximately 3.5 miles round trip 🥾 Moderate to somewhat challenging (steep 1/2-mile section) 🗺️ AllTrails: Waramaug's Rock via Meeker Trail 🗺️ AllTrails: Meeker Trail and Pinnacle Valley Trail MACRICOSTAS PRESERVE: ➡️ Steep Rock Association 📍 124 Christian Street // New Preston, CT // Litchfield Hills 🚗 Large parking lot (mostly empty on a beautiful day in May, but we have found it pretty full in the fall) 🚧 2026: There is currently construction in/around the parking area. Check the latest details directly with Steep Rock Association for where to park. 🎟️ Free 🕙 Open daily sunrise to sunset 🐶 Dogs are allowed and must be leashed at all times. (And please, clean up after them and take it with you. I unfortunately saw a bag of 💩 next to the trail.) ✨ Please leave no trace! #Connecticut #Hiking #NewEngland
