I feel this so much. I have almost 9 years of recovery and still regret all of the years I missed in active addiction. I am grateful for recovery though and all of the years I have had, present, with my kids. When did you start recovery?

my dad has been sober for 18 years now. my childhood he was in and out struggling with addiction. now he’s a sponsor for others, i’m 29 and he does everything he can to make up for the time missed and the mistakes he has made. i love and respect him so much. you can see the deep love your family has for you. keep going ❤️🩹

I’m happy to see you’ve been sober for that long. My father never chose his family. The scars and trauma because he was also abusive are with me to this day. I wanted him to chose me but he never did. I’m happy you are choosing to be present for your kids.

Sir, u need to release urself of that guilt.. you are one of the best fathers I have ever seen in my life, your children are so well-rounded, your stepchildren need you as a father, and you are there 100%!! I promise they will remember this amazing father/family first man who is still teaching them to b the best they can be. It’s ok to think back, but u don’t need to hold that guilt, you are present now and that’s all any of us can do ❤️❤️❤️
