our didnt stop, but for years my dad didnt wrap my presents. we went shopping close to Christmas and got Chinese food instead. I loved the time with dad and getting to pick out my presents. he told me its a tradition bc of his first Christmas living on the streets. he took himself shopping, and got Chinese food bc they were the only place open on Xmas. our tradition which I love dearly, was never magic for him. it was a desperate attempt from a 15 year old boy, scared and cold outside, to make the day feel more normal.

slide 4 used to happen during our New Year celebrations. we would wait for an uncle and his family, we didn't even eat and open the presents despite the hunger and excitement. they arrive later and later every year that we decided to just fuck it and eat and open the presents, they're not special .
