The most important aid to something like this is GOOD EAR TRAINING. Knowing your notes isn't enough. The question is can you vocally produce the sound of those notes accurately? I've heard singers pronounce DOH and make it sound SOH. 🤷🤷 Even heard some others sing wrong notes in the middle of songs. I want to really encourage singers to give themselves to adequate ear training - not to become like PST. NOBLE G oooo 😂 but at least to know how to hit your notes accurately before you can even think of doing riffs.
