A nice piece, Ma. A lot of things aren’t spoken about in this marriage stuff, and I want to be sure I’m not mixing things up. Recently, I had issues with my partner, and I do not wish to continue with the relationship anymore. A few nights ago, I was just reminiscing about the distinction between imperfection and red flags, and what actions could be categorized as imperfections and what culpable actions could also be categorized as red flags. Personally, I’ve always had this senior father figure who is over 60. He has mentioned to me that I take accountability too seriously and that I look too much into things that shouldn’t matter. He always says I’m looking for Mrs. Perfect and that I can’t find her anywhere. But here is the truth, I could easily overlook a lot of things. If a woman eats and leaves the dishes on the TV stand, or uses the toilet and doesn’t flush, those are things I can naturally overlook. But a common lie, like saying a smaller amount was given instead of stating what was originally given, can really turn me off. It can break trust, and that is the current situation in my relationship that I’m walking away from. I think people sometimes hide under the canopy of “imperfection” when they are obviously displaying behaviours that should be considered red flags. Could you please speak on this and create a balance in that regard? I just want to be sure I’m not unnecessarily being too difficult, especially since I have my boundaries.
