@thenatureeducator: Patiently awaiting my Grammy nomination for my first tree song 😆. The maple with the biggest leaves is appropriately named the Bigleaf Maple or Acer macrophyllum (which literally translates from Latin and Greek to ‘large-leaved maple’). Their five-loved leaves are usually 15–30 cm (6–12 in) across, but the largest recorded is 61 cm (24 in)! With helicopter (Samara) seeds that spin in the wind in the fall, and hanging edible flowers in the spring, this beautiful big deciduous tree is one of my personal favourites and is also beloved by the many species it supports (like owls, bears, bees and squirrels) for habitat and food.
