@lazycabbie: As drivers, we know it can happen, so we prepare ourselves. I'll usually have a pail, plastic bag or something ready in case a passenger feels sick. But sometimes, when you pass them a bucket, they get offended. No, we're not trying to insult you or say you can't hold your liquor. We're just trying to protect the taxi. Because if you vomit inside the vehicle, it's not simply a matter of wiping the seat and carrying on. I have to find somewhere to wash and clean the taxi properly. That can easily take hours, and there is usually money involved too. But the biggest cost isn't even the cleaning. It's the income I'm losing while the taxi is off the road. Imagine spending three or four hours cleaning up in the middle of the night. By the time you're done, it's 3 or 4am. The passengers you could have picked up are already gone. Other drivers have taken those jobs, and you're still stuck at the petrol station trying to get the smell out of your taxi. By then, honestly, your motivation to continue driving is gone.
