So many questions about my pink knee straps. I’ve struggled with knee pain for years and it almost made me decide I was done with backpacking entirely. My mind was telling me I could hike anything and had no limits but my body was telling me otherwise. Turns out I just needed a few modifications. • Patella Knee Straps - Someone suggested these to me years ago and I thought there was no way they’d work. Pretty sure they are the best hack for knee pain ever. Let me know if you want me to send you a link (affiliate, duh). • More hiking…I wish there was an easy fix to this but doing at least 2-3 challenging day hikes each week leading up to backpacking has helped me immensely in not having as much pain. • Shoes - I’ve tried a lot of hiking boots and trail runners in a lot of different brands. I always got foot, ankle, and knee pain if I hiked more than like 5 miles. I just bought my first pair of @altrarunning shoes cause Chris kept telling me they’re the most comfortable shoes he’s ever worn. Well, after zero break in, I wore them for 30+ miles the past few days with zero blisters and less pain than I’ve ever experienced hiking. They literally feel like wearing squishy slippers to hike in. • Poles - When I first started backpacking I thought poles were for old people. Turns out, it’s me. I’m old people. • Then, if all else fails and I still have pain, I’ll use a topically anti inflammatory or some ibuprofen. None of this is sponsored, I’m just hoping any of this helps someone else the way it’s helped me! 🙌🏼 #hikingadventures #altrarunning #hikingboots #hikingshoes #outdoorswoman #kneepainrelief #hikingtips
